Her Voice

I am what I am,
Not what you want to see in me,
Nor how you want to see me,
Not as the slave of your desire
or your favour.

How I laugh, dress, sit, stand, speak, love, or hate
Don’t you decide for me,
My mind, heart, and conscience would decide
how things will be.

You really love me, respect me and care for me,
Be there when I struggle, fall, stand or rise,
On the same plateau with me, besides me,
To see the sparkle or the despair in my eyes,
To be my strength and be with me for what I am,
Not for what you want to see in me,
Nor how you want to see me,
Not as the slave of your desire
or your favour.
